Finally, full technical details on all the FPCamshafts. It is truly a great day when you can take your pick of over a dozen cam grinds to fit WHATEVER unique application you are putting together. That's right; it is now possible to match any intake camshaft to any exhaust camshaft!

Some introduction - The FPCam1 and FPCam2 perform very much like the HKS 264 and 272 grinds. The FPCam3 was designed with the requirements of stroker engines in mind and result in large increases in midrange HP and torque compared to the FPCam2 with the 100mm stroke.

What does the "X" mean? Once a comfortable limit on valve acceleration was established with our dual spring kit, it was possible to generate versions of the FPCam1, 2 and 3 that took advantage of this new found spring tension. The "X" versions of the Cams are the result. They bump up the valve acceleration rate and toss on a little extra lift for good measure.

FPCam1
Compatible with stock springs. Similar to HKS 264 camshaft, but with a little more lobe on it. This camshaft results in very good idle characteristics and is very useful with turbochargers up to 650cfm.
FPCam1x
Requires upgraded valve springs, but does not require double springs. This "x" version of the FPCam1 maintains the idle and power band characteristics of the FPCam1 while giving additional lobe profile and max lift valve dwell by increasing valve acceleration rate.
FPCam2
Compatible with stock springs. Similar to HKS 272 camshaft, but with a greater emphasis on top end power. Gives up a little bottom end torque to the HKS 272 cam and gains power higher in the RPM band. Nice choice if you need a big camshaft, but cannot install upgraded valve springs.
FPCam2x

This cam is now out of stock and has been replaced by the FP4R Cam.

Dual valve springs required. This cam needs 280lb of force over the nose of the cam. When using STDuals, you will find that an installed height of 1.470-1.490" is needed. This "x" version of the FPCam2 increases valve acceleration and valve dwell near max lift to increase torque and widen the power band. Similar to the FPCam3 but not specifically designed around the piston speed of 100mm stroke crankshafts.

FPCam3

This cam is no longer available.

Dual valve springs required. STDuals at 1.500-1.530" installed is required. The first camshaft designed with the 100mm stroke crankshaft in mind. Often referred to as the "square lobe", No valve to piston interference issues, and no retainer to guide interference issues. This is a drop in cam in the sense that no issues with geometry or interference exist. This cam produces very broad power bands in stroker engines, easily consuming all available airflow from 800cfm and larger turbochargers.

FPCam3x

This cam is no longer available.

Dual valve springs required. Be sure to install your springs with 280+lb over the nose, STDuals need 1.470-1.480" installed height. This camshaft has the highest valve acceleration that is allowable with our dual valve springs. The FPCam3x has more lift and faster ramps than the FPCam3.

FPCam4

This cam is no longer available.

Dual valve springs required. STDuals at 1.500-1.530" installed height, 240-250lb over the nose required. This camshaft is a small step up from the FPCam3 grind. FPCam4 is actually a less aggressive and smaller camshaft than the FPCam3x, so much for a consistent numbering scheme.

The graphs below indicate actual valve lift per degree, not camshaft lift per degree.
